Historian
Lucy Scott is great granddaughter of Captain Robert Falcon Scott. And granddaughter of Sir Peter Scott, wildlife conservationist and artist - one of the founders of WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature).
Lucy lives in Yorkshire, in the North of England. She has a background of working in culture and heritage with experience of managing cultural and historical sites, undertaking research for exhibitions, and developing educational resources. She is passionate about sharing knowledge of history and culture.
Lucy has a broad knowledge of polar history, having researched her family history and the wider history of polar exploration in depth. After university, she did a short internship at the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge. She also worked on a television programme researching Scott’s last expedition to the Antarctic.
Currently, Lucy works for a UK National Park on environmental, cultural, historical and educational projects working to improve the local environment for nature, climate, and for the people who live, work and visit the area.
Passionate about nature, wildlife, art and hiking, she loves exploring the UK, particularly Scotland. As a practicing artist herself, she is inspired by wild landscapes and wildlife and has exhibited her work in art galleries in Yorkshire.
She is looking forward to sharing stories of Antarctic exploration from this spectacular region on the voyage.
